    About KV

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) is a non-profit organization that manages central government schools in India and other countries. The schools are affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and are known as Kendriya Vidyalayas. The KVS’s mission is to provide education for children of transferable central government employees, promote innovation in education, and develop national integration.

The KVS was established in 1963 under the name Central Schools, but the name was later changed to Kendriya Vidyalaya. The schools have a uniform curriculum and common syllabus to ensure that children of government employees don’t face educational disadvantages when their parents are transferred. The KVS has a three-tier management structure, with headquarters, regional offices, and Kendriya Vidyalayas. As of December 2021, there were 1,244 schools in India and three abroad.
